I always seem to bump into Homing Pigeons....................................................

I had a homing pigeon stop off in my garden a few years ago... resting up and enjoying my hospitality.
It was the first time I had come across one... but since that first encounter I seem to attract them.
We had one in Mandy's Dads garden last summer that stayed for a few weeks... one then became two for a few days before they both decided to continue their adventure elsewhere.

We have had encounters with others out walking locally and even on the coast at South Stack Anglesey.
The image above is of Derwentwater in the Lake District... the hill to the left with two bumps is Catbells.
Catbells was the home of Mrs Tiggy Winkle in Beatrix Potters childrens stories.

Among the ducks geese and gulls I spotted this little fella having a paddle... yet another homing pigeon.

He had the biggest bird bath in the world and was making the most of it...

...and no fear of me... I'm sure I could have handled him had I wanted to...
...I hope he found his way home.

A bit of good news for today... my Mum is back at home after her fall and Mandy's Dad is doing well.

Interesting encounter with the homing pigeon. I hear they euthanize them if they go astray, to take them out of the gene pool. Hope not. Good to hear the encouraging medical reports. Best wishes!

HI Andrew Great news about your Mum and Mandy's Dad and lovely shots of the pigeons.

Andrew, if he does and he was tardy they'll wring his neck. They are supposed to fly non-stop back to the loft. It is a cruel sport and not one to be encouraged.

Nice color details on the pigeon. That first shot is beautiful with the mountains in the background and the dock.

Nice, soft colors! They remind me of a more colorful version of our Mourning Doves.

Beautiful pigeon! This post led me on a detour to look up passenger pigeons and why they became extinct.

Years ago a Homing Pigeon landed in my neighbors yard. She brought him in the house and gave him food and water ... he stayed about two weeks then she put him out and he left. We always wondered if he made it home. So I can relate to your story and love your pictures.

Glad all is getting better on the home front. Most things in life are not timely, but it is wonderful when there is a happy ending.
