Natures wonders................... beautiful butterflies

During my walks this summer I have encountered lots of wonderful wildlife but if you were to ask me what I recall most about summer wildlife in my childhood.
It would have to be..... butterflies.

Speckled Wood (Pararge aegeria)

Meadow Brown (Maniola jurtina) Male

Gatekeeper (Pyronia tithonus)

White-letter Hairstreak (Satyrium w-album)

Comma (Polygonia c-album)

  2. I always love seeing butterflies on the wing, no matter how briefly. They seem to have been struggling this year though.
Lovely selection Andrew. Never seen the White-letter Hairstreak before.

  8. Hi Andrew,
Nice selection of butterflies there! Good to see a few on the wing now, even after all the that we have had!
Thinking back to my childhood (all those years ago), I remember always seeing lots of butterflies on buddleia, far more than I do now!
