I am on holiday for two weeks of relaxation.
My idea is to travel to Wales next week for a few days camping at Shell Island a lovely part of the world and probably the biggest campsite in Europe.
I have really enjoyed a few (rainy) days wandering around my local area and have started to unwind.
I've bought extra batteries for my dslr and video camera and even have a list of what I want to try and capture... Beautiful landscapes, seascapes, and some wonderful wildlife.
My walk today (it was warm but showery) took me to Shakerley Mere a gravel pit next to the M6 Motorway. It was raining as I arrived so I took a few images from the car.
After a while the rain stopped so I tried to capture the birds on the feeders by the car park.
Then disaster... I tried to focus on a Great Tit climbing into the feeder to grab a peanut (the lid was missing) and I thought this would be a lovely behaviour shot.
Nothing happened...nothing at all...my camera had stopped working.
My nearest Nikon repair centre is in Stoke on Trent a round trip of 70 miles. Service £162 plus 20% VAT ($311) and that's just to evaluate the problem...parts required will add to the cost.

The weird thing about this whole episode is that I dreamt about it on Monday night.
I woke up in a panic dreaming my camera wouldn't work anymore....
I really did it's so surreal.

oh, if you're going to have a premonition, at least make it a good one! SO sorry, andrew!!!
ReplyDeleteBlast! I hope you don't have to go for too long without, Andrew.
ReplyDeleteDear Andrew - you did wonderful shots as long as camera wanted to cooperate - now, I do not know...I hope you find some very good solution soonest!
ReplyDeleteOH dang that really sux..maybe you can find a cheap/Temporary one to use till its fixed.
ReplyDeleteOh no, sorry about your camera Andrew. I know how you must have felt as I have had that experience before. It is very disheartening. Good luck on finding a solution and thank you for sharing these great photos before disaster struck.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that Andrew. I can imagine how you must be feeling. Hope you get something sorted soon.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good excuse for a new camera??!!
ReplyDelete:)
Hi Andrew...DARN and just before a holiday !!

Andrew,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your camera. May I know what model is it ?
That is the very devil.......Good Luck.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Tammy. This is an good opportunity for a new camera.
ReplyDeleteStill a nice summer to you.
So sorry, Andrew! I hope you can get the problem resolved soon. You did get some lovely shots right at the end.
ReplyDeleteEvil camera, lol. Nice pictures though.
ReplyDeleteI would be distraught Andrew! I'm glad to see by the next post that you have a temporary solution. In the States there are shops that rent cameras and even huge expensive lenses, so you can check them out before you buy. At least you got some good shots before the disaster and have a solution for your vacation.
ReplyDeleteThat so sucks :(
ReplyDeleteAnd dreaming about it ahead of time makes it outright creepy :(
The prices are ridiculous, they really simply want you to go and buy a new camera instead, no? :(
Hope you find a solution :/
Nightmare Andrew!
