The Superb Bird of Paradise.................................. a stunning courtship display

I have just watched Birds of Paradise with David Attenborough and just had to share this clip.

The Superb Bird of Paradise's courtship display is amazing to watch.
To me the male morphs into a cartoon... fantastic.

I have been so aware of colourful tropical birds nearly all my life.
I collected cards of birds and African and Asian wildlife from tea packets as a youngster.
The Tropical Birds set is from 1961... I was just 5 years old.
By the way Mum (84 in a few weeks) still has my collections.

Hi Andrew,
Oh, that picture of the Andean Cock of the Rock brought back memories for me. I visited Ecuador a few years ago and traveled to a lek to see them displaying. At 5am there wasn't any light for photos, but it was great just to be there!

I watched that programme this week. Absolutely fascinating. I just love Attenborough. I remember the cards from the tea packets and then putting them into albums. i think I still have one of British wild flowers somewhere.

What a sweet mum you have! I guess she knew your love for tropical birds would continue into your adult life.
