We had a really cold night last night and woke to see a lot of frost and ice in the garden.
My garden Robin with the white tail feather is all puffed up to keep himself warm.
By puffing up his feathers so they almost stand on end he traps warm air next to his internal organs.
Air is an excellent insulator so even a few millimetres under the feathers will keep him nice and warm.
I think he looks a bit like a worn out tennis ball.

LOL! Nice shots! He looks like he's been through a dryer.
So adorable!
Blown up and looking good.
adorable little guy and perfect description. :)
The other day I was thinking about all the birds and other wildlife here in the States while that weather vortex things swept down out of Canada. I wonder how they all did. Maybe like this little guy.
Puffed up Andrew? He looks blown up.
Such a cute little bird.
Wow! We've been cold over here too.
He's adorable!
It did take the form of a tennis ball now that you mention it. But, oh such a cute one!!!
I love your little garden robin-ball, Andrew.

Great shots Andrew - he looks like he's pulled up the collar on his "coat"! Love your header, by the way - awesome!
So cute! He does look cold.
Oh, yes, definitely the cutest, feathery tennis ball I've ever seen!! What terrific captures, Andrew!! I love them!! Hope all of you -- feathered and otherwise have a great week!! Stay warm!!
He's wearing a puffy coat! What a cute expression.
His own little duvet.
So cute! I think his little toes are still cold, though
Very beautiful photos.
Love these shots, Andrew! Perfect focus, and he really does look like a tennis ball.
What a beautiful bird - and great photography!
Better tell your cute Robin to stay well clear of us here in Melbourne, we're in the middle of the Australian Open and I would hate for him to find himself in the middle of a tennis match for real!

Great photos. He certainly is all puffed up and I hope he survived the cold.
Adorable shots of the Robin!
Well, he can put his little round fluffy body on my perch any time ... don't think I have ever seen anything so cute. What a great shot, Andrew ...

Sweetest little tennis ball ever!
The Robin is so beautiful and even when puffed up from the cold still looks so dainty.
Very nice photographs, Andrew!
Imaginative, but the perfect characterisation....
Such a cutie! I'm getting rather attached to this little guy.
