A rare visitor to my garden........................................................... the Bullfinch

The last time I saw a male Bullfinch on my feeders was in April 2010.

Bullfinch (Phrrhula pyrrhula).
Bullfinches are quite a common bird I often see while out and about...
...just not in my little garden.

This was a grab the camera for record shots moment... all taken through the window.

Luckily for me he had a good look around... before tucking into the sunflower hearts...

I hope I don't have to wait another three years for my next one... such a lovely little bird to see.

I have never seen one of these birds. It does pay off to keep your windows clean.

Andrew I wonder if they are having a rough time of it. I've seen very few for the last couple of years.
Have you got music on your blog? Damn near wet myself. It should carry a warning.

Lovely looking bird; we don't have them in this area.

Your timing to capturing it in your garden is priceless.

That is one handsome bird and a nice group of pictures. I know what you mean when you say you hope you don't have to wait to see him again. We have a Scarlet Tanager pair in our neighborhood and my neighbor keeps asking me if I have seen them and ... yes, I saw it two summers ago and not since. Oh my ... it is worth the wait though.

What a great find in your garden! Now that he's tasted your offerings, he'll likely remember where he was and will return. (One can hope....)
