a diary of my walks in the countryside
Before I started following birding blogs, I had no idea that a bird could molt. I have paid attention since and noticed quite a few come and go with strange looking feather-do's. Your photo of this little sparrow is lovely.
poor scraggly thing. :)
Hi Andrew Good shot although she does look awful at present.
good capturemuch love...
Bless, not looking it's best, just as well it's so warm at the moment :)
it's not just us that suffer from 'bad-hair- days ....
Looks like someone pulled out the chest feathers. A super photo, however.K
Even when scruffy, they have a special scruffy cuteness, these birds!!
I like sparrows! I'm a commoner too!
Of all the House Sparrows we have here, I've never seen one molting.
Andrew, I'm sure she'll soon be back to looking as beautiful as ever!...[;o)
Plucked sparrow. Poor guy.
poor one. They look terrible during the process. But that is how it works.
Its the nature of this bird.. they will out grow of it.
Reminds me of when my chickens molt, which is never a pretty experience. :)
poor thing
Poor thing although it looks worse than it is as I found out when I had budgies.
Not looking his best really! But we all have to change clothes!Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
