A few more images of the Great Crested Grebes on my local river... the Weaver.
A pair of GCG's were feeding close to the sluice at Dutton Locks as we had a short break to stretch our legs on our weekend boat trip.
As we watched we noticed they were preparing a mating platform.

This platform of reeds may eventually become the nest.
The female climbed onto the platform and lay down... waiting for her mate.
The male responded to her advances.
The moment was over in the blink of an eye.
Great Crested Grebe (Podiceps cristatus)
I love watching wildlife behaviour... being in the right place at the right time does take a bit of luck.
...plus a small amount of local knowledge.
