Cemlyn Bay Anglesey.....................................................................................

I managed to fit in a quick visit to Cemlyn Bay during my weekend trip to Anglesey.

Just behind this pebble beach is a brackish pool with a couple of islands... home to a colony of terns.

Sandwich Terns (above) Common and Arctic all breed on the islands.

Mandy making her way along the shore of the bay... it's really hard going on the loose deep pebbles.
It was warm but very windy.
Ringed Plovers, Oystercatchers and Sanderling were all seen along the waters edge.

The birds fly out to sea to feed... nearly all having a catch as they return.

I made the video clip below in June 2011... there was a lot more going on then.

Turn the sound up... the noise (and smell which I can't share) is amazing.
I hope make another visit sooner rather than later during the next few weeks.

Cool, it is great to live on the sea with such possibilities.

it's really good fun to be able to return to a place you enjoy so much. What distance would it be from where you live to get into Wales? Pebbles like that are really hard going; I remember the same when visiting Gloucester N.S.W. recently, alongside the river. Wondering what the yellow flowering plant is in your first photo Drew?
