Robin (Erithacus rubecula)
After capturing images of the Robin in the hole in my fence yesterday I finally managed to get a few shots of him using my home made log feeder this afternoon.
No need for the perches... he had a good grip on the bark.
I have seen him on the log feeder before... just not while I have had the camera in hand.
I also enjoyed watching the Blackbirds feeding close to my feet as I sat in the garden... this is the female.
The male is the same bird that just a few weeks ago looked bald and scruffy during the moult.
He's a fine looking fellow... don't you think?

Well done, Robin and the home made feeder, excellent.
Hi Andrew..Well today I got to your comment section without a half page warning from malware, telling me to turn back or any media-player download to my computer first time is a long time. What's with that ???
I like that log idea and been thinking about trying one myself !
Glad that your little Robin payed it a visit! : )

Visiting late from Camera Critters.
Your comment on my critter post will be very much appreciated!
Hi Andrew,
What a nice series of bird pictures. The little robin is stunning. We do the same here, and feed the birds during the winter with a home made log feeder filled with natural crunchy peanut butter, they love it!
You are right about the male blackbird, he really is a beauty!
Have a nice week!
Louise
Lovely post, just hoping Finn hasn't seen it yet, or we'll have "drilling holes in logs" on the agenda for the week :)
Congrats, Drew! Lovely images!
i did not realize the female black birds were different, she is beautiful. i like the look you were getting from the Robin. and it amazes me how it stands on the side of the limb.
Each year we have a nesting Blackbird in our garden and a resident Robin. Both birds are very dear to me. Great photos! :)
