My boat trip last weekend has been well documented... the sun was shining and we weren't in a rush.
Heading towards Dutton Lock the weather was fantastic and the river so calm.
Moored by the lock was this old boat... a beautiful teak cabin (in need of a little TLC) it's over 100 years old...but still looks so elegant.
We turned around rather than going through the lock and headed back up river... spotting this apple tree growing on the bank we drifted over so we could pick a few to taste.
Free food is always nice... NOT!
These were so bitter we spat out the first bite... and left the rest to ripen and fall for the wildlife.
The last of the harvest was being collected....
...another lovely way to see the river.
There is a canoe trail along the River Weaver and steps have recently been added to allow safe access to and from the river at the lock gates.
See yesterdays post to see more cormorants... loads about.
We headed up to Saltersford Locks (and the cormorant tree in the last post) then headed back towards our mooring...
...passing the gardens backing onto the river.
This penguin brought a smile to my face.
BBQ on the go... the chef is in there... I think?
beautiful reflections. always love to see the hay bales. :)
ReplyDeletesorry the apples were not tasty - they sure look like they're delicious.
It's a good thing the chef lives in a brick house.
ReplyDeletegreat views, Andrew. really like the hay shot & sunset shot.
ReplyDeletehey, i've been out of loop... being camping for over a month & just getting back to commenting & all ... so forgive me if you have mentioned something that i missed. how is your Mom? is she well? i pray so.

ReplyDeleteWhat a grand time!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteA great trip on the river for you. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLovely sky reflections here and a nice chimney too.
ReplyDeleteWhat's not to love about living on the water?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenery! The old boat is really interesting. It's not the style we typically see here. I think the chef let things get a bit too hot! LOL! Great sunset!
ReplyDeleteBonito reportaje fotográfico.
ReplyDeleteMuy Bueno. me ha gustado mucho.
