The birds that visit my garden move pretty fast... and I end up deleting loads of blurred images.
I was doing just that this morning when I came across the shot below and burst out laughing.
Watch out Tom Daley and co.... it looks more like a dive than a take off.
Here are a few more I decided to save... for a while anyway.
These Goldfinches were out of focus...
...but too colourful to delete.
Shock tactics...
...that don't appear to work.
Look no wings...
...coming in to land...
...oops!... missed.
A half decent shot...
... angel wings.
...smash and grab.
Just a bit of fun while I am laid up with a bad knee... very sore and swollen so no walks for me today.

You've outdone yourself. Amazing shots!
Must say that first picture cracked me up as well. These shots reminds me of piece they did on Springwatch when they really slowed down filming on bird activity round the feeders. It was amazing and you really got a sense of bird community and pecking order. Woodpecker was the daddy...
sorry about the bum knee!
i get lots of these winged shots, too. love the take-off w/ the little feet in the top one, and your sweet robin.
They are really great shots!
Loving the goldfinches -- fun shots to include for Your Sunday Best.
Hope you feel better soon. xo
Me, Mum, Dad and Harley have all just really enjoyed this blog so much, especially the first Sparrow. We hope your knee is better soon. From Findlay
these are priceless and wonderful and they made me smile and fell happy. i can't pick a favorite, love them all
Delightful shots, along with your commentary!
Hope your knee feels better.
Really glad you didn't delete them. They are great!
Great stuff Andrew. Love them shots.
Maybe the gold finches were blurry but they were excellent shots! I am glad you didn't delete. I can't even get a picture of a bird flying at me or away from me. Sorry about the knee!
I feel like taking flight!
What great fun these are!!!
These are really fun, and the robin, particularly the first, is great!
Fun collection of photos, Andrew! I love the Goldfinch and the pretty robin.
Love these action shots.
Visiting from Camera Critters. Crows is my entry this week. Hope you'd come and see.
When I saw the thumbnail shot in the linky I thought it was a flying squirrel. :)
I spent some time last fall trying to get some in flight shots. It's fun trying and I think you got some good ones. The finch looks like a super hero in a cartoon. :)
Love the "flight school" images. A few of them are just hilarious.
Hope your knee feels better soon.
Some fun and amazing shots. I too snap a lot more photos than I keep. Little birdies are fast little critters at times.
You can still tell what they are though Andrew, more than any of my blurred photos! The Robin shot, is more than half-decent!

The first shot looks like a Hail Mary leap! Great photos of the robin! I hope your knee heals quickly and you can get out and about again soon.
Blur of colors. Wonderful shots!!! Cheers!
WAU - beautiful pictures you show of flying birds.

This is a wonderful entertaining post! Much better than watching tv....
I think flying birds were what digital was made for!
I do like the robin coming in to land.

Love that first shot ! Andrew, I am interested to know what you feed the birds...is that square feed a home-made concotion?

Your photography is great. But, what I like is that you are capturing these great moments. And though they may not be perfection to you....they tell a story...and that is often missing in a so perfect photo.
I love the name of your blog. That could pretty much describe me too. I can't go out for a walk without my camera....
Hope you're back to your photography rambles very soon.
That first one is hilarious. I love little birds.
That first shot is amazing!
Captured some really beautiful moments there Andrew.
This entie post had me smiling allover my face! I love it!
My goodness...you need to submit that top one to Birds and Blooms...I am sure they have a column for those kind of shots.....very funny...it is a smile maker for sure.
Such a fun array of photos, and your commentary was so very special!!! Enjoyed this.
Thanks for linking up at the Bird D'Pot this weekend. I'm a little behind in paying my visits as I had a very busy weekend and wasn't online much!!! Your sharing is always much appreciated!!
So sorry you're injured, but at least you have a lot of bird visitors to entertain you. I love that first shot!
Love these action shots! That one of the robin is fantastic!
