I had a visit to Chester on my way home from Wales and had a wander around one of the public gardens.
"Life is like a box of..... nuts?"
Chester is a popular city with tourists and the local wildlife are used to the visitors.
No! I haven't stamped on one... it just looks like it in this image.
It is well documented how much trouble I have at home with my garden squirrels.
Maybe I should try a new approach and befriend them.
I had Chester's eating out of my hand.
Wow! Those are tame - they run out of our garden, especially if I chase them off. LOL.
ReplyDeleteLOL! If you can't beat 'em, join 'em! Great photos, Andrew! I've never hand fed a squirrel before.
ReplyDeletetoo darn cute!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Andrew.
ReplyDeleteIt's an amazing feeling when 'wild' animals react like that with us.
I prefer a box of chocolates myself Andrew but I can see how this might not go down well with the pigeons!! The sequence of squirrel shots is just delightful, they don't bite?
ReplyDeleteI can't stop smiling, all the way from Mr Gump down to the good by shake... love all of these. and am soooooo jealous.
ReplyDeleteLove that little paw holding your hand as he grabs a snack. Wonderful pictures Andrew.
ReplyDeleteThey know how far they can go, if you are that sort of person that gives them a treat, whatever you can't do at home.
ReplyDeleteHI Andrew...you are to funny ...and I bet you can't say that the way Forrest does either ; }!
ReplyDeleteReal cute post ...must be a thrill to feed them like that...did you get pooped on ? lol!!
Loved it !!

Awesome photos, looks like you had a fun day hand feeding the local wildlife.
ReplyDeleteHope they didn't follow you home. Mum said to say she really likes the title of this blog. From Findlay
ReplyDeleteDon't let the word out that you feed Squirrels or your garden will be overrun with them! Great story though.
ReplyDeleteThese little guys are so cute. I have never been brave enough to hand feed a squirrel.
ReplyDeleteWhat a Beautiful photos. I,d like doing the photographies in this way for my paintings. Congratulations
ReplyDeletegreat series; you sure did make friends with the squirrel
ReplyDeleteGreat shots- I wouldn't want them buggers to follow me home either!
ReplyDeleteNicer when they're eating somebody else's plantings!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! And what fun. :-)
ReplyDeleteFunny, just last night I was sorting through old film photographs and came across one of me kneeling down feeding a squirrel a cracker at a park near the coast. This particular park is inundated with squirrel activity, and they're fed often by visitors so are unafraid of anyone.
There is also a state park local to us where a lot of squirrels reside. Those are a bit more forward. They'll come out of their dens and onto the biking/hiking trail, following people while in search of a treat. Last summer, one squirrel jumped up on the front end of my husbands bike. I kid you not. lol
It looks like a great time Andrew. When I was a kid, a friends dad raised a baby squirrel and taught it ti take nuts out of his shirt pocket. They are cute little rodents.
ReplyDeleteJust so the squirrel doesn`t tell his friends how giving you are with the treats, great pictures,I`ve never seen a squirrel that tame, phyllis
ReplyDeleteExcellent post Andrew, I hope that they didn't all follow you home?..lol.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course your welcome, any time, to come to my garden and do your pied piper act on 'my' squirrels!...[;o)
You've made my day! The last photo is terrific:)
ReplyDeleteHi there - I know that they are a pest (I'm surprise they were not introduced here!) but they still do have a certain charm!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to WBW - Stewart M - Australia

ReplyDeleteGreat shots Andrew!!
ReplyDeleteWe came across some very tame squirrels in St James Park as we were walking along Birdcage Walk after the "Changing of the guards". They were quite comical!!
