I have always struggled to capture images of Magpies.
I had a short walk this afternoon at my local nature park.
The Magpies were a bit more obliging than usual... I managed to get quite close.
My walks are usually taken at the weekend but I am enjoying a few days off work.
It's a popular place at the weekend for family's out for a stroll, cyclists and dog walkers.
The peace and quite today was wonderful... I almost had the place to myself.
Visit World Bird Wednesday to see more birds from all over the world.

love those blue feathers! really pretty markings.
Wow those blue colours are great!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
The colors remind me a bit of our Blue Jay, but the pattern is totally different. Gorgeous bird!
Great photos of the magpies. They are so different from Australian magpies.

i did not know they had blue on them, i always think of them as black. that second one is beautiful.
I like the pattern of blue over white. Very nice.
magpies, an annoying bird. They are everywhere but so hard to get good shots at. At least when flying. :)

Lovely top image Drew; your magpie is quite different to ours with the white shoulders; very impressive. Isn't it great when you can have that chance to get up close to a bird without it rushing off. The last photo really shows up a sweet tinge of blue in the lighting at the moment; well done! I'm glad you're having good weather to get out and about; enjoy.
It's so nice that you get to see them! I use to see them when I lived out west but we don't have them here on the east coast.
Lovely shots, they do have pretty colors. Sounds like a great outing.
He is so beautiful! Awesome photos! And the walk sounds perfect!
Fantastic shot of the bird. Nice clarity.
Great pictures, this bird has spectacular colouring.
Great pictures you show.
Wishing you a good day.

You did very well! I was happy to see a lot of American magpies, they don't look very different from ours. Didn't catch them on photo though but I did catch an eagle (a horrid photo), an American robin, a Woody Woodpecker... :-)
It's blue, black and white colors make it a beauty !
Beautiful pictures Andrew are amazing.
Soon he will recover. Greetings.
great shots of the magpie, lovely colours
That blue...is absolutely divine!
Great shots, as always, Drew!
Hugs
Magpies are beautiful birds! Great captures.
I always thought they were just black and white -- what a treat to see! Great photos, Andrew.
Great shots of Magpies but very different to our Australian Magpie.
Their size & build is more like our Butcherbird.
Your magpies are stunning!
Gorgeous bird, great images~
Excellent shots! What a great sweep of tail feathers.
Cheers!
Great photos!!!
Your magpies are wayyyyy prettier than ours. (Well, actually there aren't any in Florida, but we used to see them in Eastern Oregon/Washington State -- they're just plain black and white.
oh what a pretty bird, i love the blue feathers.
my walking/biking path is the same. i love to go on the weekdays, it's so quiet and peaceful!!
Your Magpies are very pretty!
Thanks for your reply on my blog.
Hugs!
Hi there - nice capture. We have "magpies" in our street, but they are a large butcher bird, not a crow.
Almost any bird that was black and white in Australia was called a magpie of some sort - nice to see the ones I used to know.
Cheers - Stewart M - Australia
I love our Magpies and yours look very similar. They are beautiful birds and you got a couple of excellent shots of this one!
