Chester is a pleasant place to go shopping.
The jewellers Boodle and Dunthorne was founded in Liverpool in 1798.
It's one of those places that if you have to ask the price ... you can't afford it.
It was the window reflections that caught my eye... not the diamonds.
Boodles can be seen through the pillars... next door is the five star Grosvenor Hotel.
The Rows.
Chesters Rows consist of covered walkways at the first floor behind which are entrances to shops.
At street level is another set of shops many of which are entered by going down a few steps.
Found in each of the four main streets the first record of the Rows appears in 1293... it is thought that apart from a small number of later buildings the Rows had reached it's full extent by around 1350.
Chester is ALWAYS so busy.
ReplyDeletei really like the reflections in the windows and i would have to ask the price so we know i would be window shopping only
ReplyDeleteTerrific reflections for the day! Chester looks like a great place, but I would definitely just be window shopping!! Have a wonderful weekend!

It must be nice to be so close to such historical places. Nothing like that here... Nice photos!
ReplyDeletelooks like such a beautiful place to visit. just gorgeous building. all decked out & all. (:
ReplyDeleteOh my, that last photo looks like something out of Disneyland. What an interesting place.
ReplyDeleteamazing to have a shopping area there for so long.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place! How fascinating that the Rows have been around for so long and are still going strong!!
ReplyDeleteTrying to imagine the hustle and bustle and smells of the Middle Ages! I'll have to leave my credit card safely at home!
ReplyDeleteChester has some fantastic old buildings, what a great place.
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning post Drew! Dreamy reflections and probably jewellery too. The only trouble with great diamond necklaces is that they make pretty young things look like bought doll, the middle-aged like mutton dressed up as lamb and accentuate the age of the elderly so they really look best in the shop window.
ReplyDeleteLove the beautifully kept old buildings in the last shot.
Have a Very Happy Easter! Hugs . . . Arija
I love the last one, shakespeare would liked to live there. They are superb.
ReplyDeleteGeeze, I almost didn't peek in on this post... but wow.
ReplyDeleteChester is altogether a pleasant place.
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful buildings and you captured the reflections in the Boodles windows so well!
ReplyDeletelovely superimposed images....
ReplyDeleteWonderful reflections on Boodles ... It looks a classy establishment.& it' hard to imagine this area was in existence in 1293 ..... I wonder what fashions were like then?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely can't afford it - but what an excellent name.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting and beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteNice work Andrew.... intresting post, I too nearly overlooked it, glad I didnt
ReplyDeleteGreat lighting in all your images here
A wonderful series of captures Andrew. Thanks for sharing. Happy Easter weekend.
ReplyDeleteLovely architecture there indeed! I wouldn't mind taking a stroll around there!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter regards from EAGAN daily photo
Great shots, like the covered walkways and window reflections.
ReplyDeleteDid you ever explain what that tower was used for? If so I missed it and am curious.
Sweet header; loved that photo with the low clouds. Lots of wonderful reflections happening in the store windows! Lots of people out and about, so different to your usual photos Drew (and mine). Lovely to see the city and those grand buildings. I wonder do they actually have to paint the black very often, it would be quite tedious 'picking out' I should imagine.
ReplyDeleteI like the row. But repainting could be hard
ReplyDeleteInteresting looking area... very upscale. Love the window reflections. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteA nice place !
ReplyDeleteLoved this place when we visited. Who doesn't adore the original mall?
ReplyDeleteSuas fotos são sempre lindas.
