Shopping in Chester.......................................................................................

Chester is a pleasant place to go shopping.

The jewellers Boodle and Dunthorne was founded in Liverpool in 1798.

It's one of those places that if you have to ask the price ... you can't afford it.

It was the window reflections that caught my eye... not the diamonds.

Boodles can be seen through the pillars... next door is the five star Grosvenor Hotel.

The Rows.
Chesters Rows consist of covered walkways at the first floor behind which are entrances to shops.
At street level is another set of shops many of which are entered by going down a few steps.
Found in each of the four main streets the first record of the Rows appears in 1293... it is thought that apart from a small number of later buildings the Rows had reached it's full extent by around 1350.

  10. What a stunning post Drew! Dreamy reflections and probably jewellery too. The only trouble with great diamond necklaces is that they make pretty young things look like bought doll, the middle-aged like mutton dressed up as lamb and accentuate the age of the elderly so they really look best in the shop window.

Love the beautifully kept old buildings in the last shot.

Have a Very Happy Easter! Hugs . . . Arija

  16. Wonderful reflections on Boodles ... It looks a classy establishment.& it' hard to imagine this area was in existence in 1293 ..... I wonder what fashions were like then?

  22. Great shots, like the covered walkways and window reflections.
Did you ever explain what that tower was used for? If so I missed it and am curious.

  23. Sweet header; loved that photo with the low clouds. Lots of wonderful reflections happening in the store windows! Lots of people out and about, so different to your usual photos Drew (and mine). Lovely to see the city and those grand buildings. I wonder do they actually have to paint the black very often, it would be quite tedious 'picking out' I should imagine.
