Song Thrush singing his beautiful song........................................ just for me

I had a walk from home at the weekend to visit my local nature reserve...  I saw this little House Sparrow and his friends building nests in the roofs of the houses I passed on my stroll through town.

As I was heading towards the ponds at Dairy House Meadow I heard a Song Thrush singing.
It was close to the path and I captured a few images with my camera but I really wanted to share his song.

A young family with a dog (who tried to pee on my tripod) were making enough noise to drown out the bird as they passed by... they didn't even look up to see what I was trying to capture... the kids were happy.
I had to smile.

The bird actually fell silent as they passed by... he started to sing again as they disappeared into the distance.
The Song Thrush may have a repertoire of 100 phrases...  they sing during the day after most other birds have finished singing... I have shared a short clip below.

I felt as though as he was singing just for me.

Lovely photos Andrew, and the little movie was great. Lovely sound at this time of year, never thought that all those sounds were from one and the same bird....
Thanks for sharing.

I think some of its notes are too high pitched for human ears. Thanks for the nice video!

I am so happy to were able to make a video of this! It does seem like he was sing for you, or maybe it was because he like being in movies! ;)
I just love to sit in the porch swing with my cup of coffee, between 5-7am and listen to all the different birds out in the yard, singing their morning wake-up songs.

Great photos and video clip. It always surprises me how much some people miss through not watching and listening.

The Song Thrush is aptly named Andrew, such a beautiful and loud song. I have one waking me up in the morning at the moment, better than any alarm clock!

That was delightful. I feel the sound we collect in doing a video is many times more interesting and entertaining than the motion picture is. Very nice Andrew.

Hi there - nice story about the family, the dog and the thrush!

It’s been a while since I've heard this "I sing everything twice" song!

Splendid.

What lovely photos of the Song Thrush and such a good idea to capture him singing.

Lovely little song thrush. It reminds me of our mockingbird in song, not in looks. How nice that you can feel it was singing just for you. You are much more patient than I am to appreciate the children smiling instead of being annoyed by the dog and the disturbance!

Happy Spring, Andrew! I love the clip of the Song Thrush. The song reminds me of our Mockinbird the way he repeats each phrase about three times. Does he mimic other birds?

I loved the thrush music. Delightful.

Finally I have had a chance to listen to the thrush (I can only do so with my headphones on, or our cats will go crazy, that's how great it is.) Andrew, what a great, great catch--and while I think for sure, that song thrush sang just for you, you have, in turn, given the gift of that song to all of us. Absolutely the best music there is--thank you!

I loved this post; your video is ace; such a repertoire, reminded me of the lyre-bird with its many mimicking sounds. Did laugh about the dog and your tripod; I could just imagine ...and then they moved on, fortunately, and you got that wonderful video.
