It was close to the path and I captured a few images with my camera but I really wanted to share his song.
A young family with a dog (who tried to pee on my tripod) were making enough noise to drown out the bird as they passed by... they didn't even look up to see what I was trying to capture... the kids were happy.
I had to smile.

The Song Thrush may have a repertoire of 100 phrases... they sing during the day after most other birds have finished singing... I have shared a short clip below.
I felt as though as he was singing just for me.

ReplyDeleteI just love to sit in the porch swing with my cup of coffee, between 5-7am and listen to all the different birds out in the yard, singing their morning wake-up songs.

we are hearing those same wonderful sounds here to. yesterday a cardinal and his lady entertained us and then a mocking bird chimed in and we stood and listened. we could not see them, just hear them.

ReplyDeleteLovely little song thrush. It reminds me of our mockingbird in song, not in looks. How nice that you can feel it was singing just for you. You are much more patient than I am to appreciate the children smiling instead of being annoyed by the dog and the disturbance!

ReplyDeleteFinally I have had a chance to listen to the thrush (I can only do so with my headphones on, or our cats will go crazy, that's how great it is.) Andrew, what a great, great catch--and while I think for sure, that song thrush sang just for you, you have, in turn, given the gift of that song to all of us.
