The 29th of February.............................................. and todays quarter Moon

It's a quarter Moon tonight... looks like a half moon but we only see one side of the sphere.. so it's a quarter.
This hasn't happened on the 29th of February since my Mum was four years old in 1935...

...it won't happen again until 2088.

I took her outside this evening to show her something she had lived through before... and I won't see again.
It was a priceless moment.... she couldn't get her head around what I was trying to show her.

The memory of the quarter moon during the leap year of 2012 will stay with me for ever..

  2. our Mum's get a kick from the personal touch with technology that we can impart in ways like this Andrew, even though it's hard going for them to take on board some times. A great photo from you!

  3. Facsinating. I just showed it to my son (born 1988) and pointed out that if he lived to be a hundred he'd have to get them to wheel him out on Feb 29th so he could see it again!

  13. I did not know about this. Went out to take a look and sure enough, just like you said. I tried to get a picture of it, but not sure how good it came out. I'll have a better camera in 2088.

  22. That's so sweet, Andrew!!!

Just wanted to let you know: I clicked on Post a Comment on your page just now & the screen flashed white, then it started trying to download something to my computer, so I immediately stopped it. The pop-up window had been minimized in the background & I'm thinking that's what the flash of white was.
Something similar happened on my blog a while back & come to find out, a virus was trying to attach itself somehow from one of the html codes I have linked to my blog, which I narrowed down to Photoshop... It happened one other time that turned out to be an ad from some company.
