My wander around Peover Hall ............................................ built in1585

Last weekend I made a couple of posts about Knutsford.
Peover Hall was the headquarters of the U.S. Third Army led by General Patton in the weeks leading up to D Day.

I had a lovely walk around the grounds.
There is a right of way through to the church and it's a long walk along the drive...
...not a problem as the Cheshire countryside is wonderful to walk around at any time of year.
Peover Hall is close to the radio telescope at Jodrell Bank.
A view of the hall on my approach.
The stable yard was very impressive.... quite a bit of comfort for the horses.
This little gate was locked... so I didn't get to see the secret garden.
nn At last an open gate and guess what... I wandered through it for a nosey.
Peover Hall
Built in 1585 by Sir Ralph Mainwaring, Peover Hall is a fine example of an Elizabethan manorhouse with carved staircase, panelled walls and a long gallery.
These steps by the stables were built to aid the mounting of horses.
Memorials for the family pets were along side the entrance to the churchyard.
This path through the churchyard led to another locked gate.
As I left the estate I walked through these wonderful gates...
...as I looked back I saw a sign saying Private No Entry.
OK I was leaving...but by the wrong exit.

So funny you were exiting through the entrance and were trespassing the entire time. I enjoyed the illegal tour. Very nice place.

LOL....Those fotos are adorable...We do not have here such beautifull places to visit...nor horses...
But your pictures take far away from here and Ican Imagine I am there, with all that green...

You left ...the wrong way...it was funny...really!

I love that secret garden gate :)

That picture of the horse and the telescope is mystical in a more modern way... Like a UFO suddenly landed in the picture.

Enjoyable post with wonderful views, Andrew! I envy you your lovely greens whereas here it's mostly browns and barren trees.
