Chuffs chuffs and more chuffs...................... lovely little steam engines

The Ffestiniog Railway was built to carry slate from the mines in Blaenau Ffestiniog down to the coast at Porthmadog.

I called in at the halfway station at Tan-y-Bwlch and captured the opening shots of my little video.

I continued the journey to my destination... Porthmadog and the station on the harbour.

It's set in a beautiful location.

The station was lovely to see... hanging baskets full of flowers adorned the platform.

Tourism is important to this little town on the coast of North Wales.

These holiday homes were built in the late 1960's....  I watched them being built.

They looked so modern then...  and still do today.

I spent most of my weekends here in the late 1960's on my parents lovely little yacht Scadan.
 Scadan is Gaelic for Herring... my parents are from Scotland.
We used to camp on the Ballast Island... seen in the distance.

I really enjoyed wandering around my old childhood haunts... lovely memories.

It's all the same but different..... if you know what I mean.

This was a sweet shop in my childhood... many a penny was spent in here.

 The Blue Dolphin restaurant in the 1960's... a treat on a special occasion.
My trip to Porthmadog was fantastic and I really enjoyed my day.
