It's been 74 days..... the D5000 has been repaired

This morning I have been to Stoke on Trent to collect my repaired Nikon D5000.
It seems to be working ok and as my camera traumas have been well documented...
...let's just leave it at that.

I took a scenic route home and after passing through Nantwich I visited Snugbury's Ice Cream Farm.
For the past few years as you drive along the A51 towards Chester in the fields before Snugbury's there has been a giant sculpture made out of bales of straw.
Previous sculptures include Big Ben, Meerkat, Jodrell Bank Radio Telescope and a Rocket.
This year it is a giant Polar Bear standing just under 40ft tall

Here are a few of the sculptures from past years.
Meerkat 2010
Big Ben 2009

Jodrell Bank 2007
The Ice Cream at Snugbury's is delicious by the way....

  2. Great, you've got your camera back, yippee. Now, we'll wait and see how good they did it. I hope that its better now. Those sculptures are fantastic, did you use your D5000 camera for that? I love Polar Bear, all made of straw I presume.

  3. Thanks Bob.. I captured the Polar Bear with the D40 it really is a lovely little camera. The faster shutter speed and video makes the D5000 better for birds in flight but I have really enjoyed using the D40. Def worth keeping as a second/spare body.

  7. Great sculptures Andrew.
Some of our so called 'modern artists' should have a look at these, and see what art really is.

  13. Andrew....how do they do it? They are amazing...and put the wood carvings/sculptures to shame Awesome artistry. It would be so nice to see them as you do because they MUST be huge. I have to say the Big Ben one against the backdrop of that gorgeous sky has to be my favorite. What wonderful countryside you get to enjoy. Oh, how I wish I was there. genie
