Bala Lake (Llyn Tegid) and Llyn Celyn....................................................

Bala Lake (Llyn Tegid in Welsh)
I stopped for refreshments in Bala on my way to Porthmadog and had a stroll down to the lake.
The birds are used to being fed so where easy to approach.
Juvenile Black-headed Gull
A Mallard arrives for his share of my lunch.
So content with life.....
My next stop was to view the dam at Llyn Celyn.
Completed in 1965 the reservoir supplies water to Liverpool.
Llyn Celyn
We used to stop here for a picnic on our journey to my parents boat at Porthmadog at weekends.
A village was displaced by the reservoir and caused a lot of anger at the time.
Gravestones were removed from the local chapel and a new a new site was constructed for them.
My brother and I used to run down to see what had changed week by week as it was built.
A Jackdaw kept a beady eye on me during my visit.
Tomorrows post is about my lovely visit to Tan-y-Bwlch Station and steam trains.
I had so much to see during a journey of only 85 miles.

Sounds like a wonderful day, Andrew - a little bitter-sweet knowing that the clock won't turn back. Your jackdaw is of course my favorite.

Love the mallards -- we have a 13 year-old mallard drake on the farm named Freddie. :) Great shots, Andrew.

Liverpool...1965...just about the center of the universe as far as I was concerned in those days.
It's a beautiful country side you've treated us to Andrew. Cheers!

Thank you Andrew for your comments on my sites!
It is always nice to see posts from UK, we lived in Scotland almost a year a long time ago but we traveled even in Cornwall and Wales. We lived some time during that year in Hereford, from there it was easy to drive and see many places and it was a spring then, sunny beautiful days after windy, humid Aberdeenshire :)
I will come and visit Uk now by your posts, thank you.
