Swallows........................... heading back to Africa

The swallows are heading south on their migration to winter in Africa.
I see them gathering on cables as I journey to and from work.
The signals at Vale Royal Locks gave me a new perspective... a great place for the birds to rest.
The swallows are mainly juveniles making their first migration as the adult birds have already left.

It appears our summer is coming to a close..........

  3. It is interesting that the young ones know what to do, when to do it and where to go without their parents leading them on into their maiden voyage. The wonders of Nature.

  4. The Swallows seem to know where their other home is down south, I think the memory on where to go is built in when born. That is truly amazing that they can do that.

  12. Swallows are a feast to the eye everytime I go to Carrapateira (Algarve, southern Portugal) in summer. They fly over the house by the hundreds and dive in the swimming pool always flying! At first I thought they were just drinking water but, actually, they get wet. It's fantastic! These photos are lovely.
