My patch.... a walk round my local nature reserve

Northwich Woodlands.
I have already made a few posts about my local Nature Reserve.
Lets give it a proper review.

Ashtons Flash... the baron area is usually a pool but we are having a very dry year
This whole reserve is accessible on foot from the town centre and is only two miles from my own doorstep.
Reclaimed from industrial land and landfill the area covers over 350 hectares and includes flashes formed by subsidence due to brine (salt) extraction and includes Marbury Country Park once a stately home (the house has been demolished) and Anderton Nature Park which includes the world famous Anderton Boat Lift (restored at a cost of around £11million).
Neumanns Flash
The nature reserve is very well sign posted.
Boards around the reserve offer plenty of information about the wildlife and upcoming events.

The diverse range of habitats includes mature woodland, flower-rich grassland, wetland and open water. The wide range of habitats the area offers is vital to its overall conservation quality.
The distinctive flora and fauna is influenced by the areas heritage, with many rare and unusual species thriving on this legacy.

The Trent and Mersey Canal (completed in 1777) runs through the reserve.
Close by is my favourite spot....Haydn's Pool

Northwich Woodlands Part 2
Haydn's Pool

A beautiful area to visit... and as mentioned within walking distance of my home.
The balding bloke walking to and from No.1 hide at Neumanns Flash in the first clip is......me!!
I did a circular route from the car park at Witton Brook over Marbury Lane to Neumanns Flash. I then walked through Dairyhouse Meadows to the Trent and Mersey Canal before visiting the hide at
Haydn's Pool before rejoining Marbury Lane for a short stroll back to my car.

Excellent place well marked and maintained and the videos make the visit even better...I did see that bloke walking there, but I think you shouldn't refer to yourself as that bald bloke,
nothing wrong with that!!
Hope you hae a good week...today is or 4th of July independence day holiday!!

Really got a 'sense' of your area....the clips were very good! Something about a canal that is very appealing to me......maybe the peacefulness.

You keep a pretty good pace up on those walks Andrew. A patch like this takes a lot of involvement and planning. Hooray to your community for understanding the value of such a place and thank you for showing it off!

Loved to see you and your favourite haunt Andrew. Delightful sweep of the old canal, just a pity that barges are no loner horse drawn.
Nice little videos too.
