This whole reserve is accessible on foot from the town centre and is only two miles from my own doorstep.
Reclaimed from industrial land and landfill the area covers over 350 hectares and includes flashes formed by subsidence due to brine (salt) extraction and includes Marbury Country Park once a stately home (the house has been demolished) and Anderton Nature Park which includes the world famous Anderton Boat Lift (restored at a cost of around £11million).

Boards around the reserve offer plenty of information about the wildlife and upcoming events.

Neumanns Flash
The diverse range of habitats includes mature woodland, flower-rich grassland, wetland and open water. The wide range of habitats the area offers is vital to its overall conservation quality.
The distinctive flora and fauna is influenced by the areas heritage, with many rare and unusual species thriving on this legacy.
The Trent and Mersey Canal (completed in 1777) runs through the reserve.

A beautiful area to visit... and as mentioned within walking distance of my home.
The balding bloke walking to and from No.1 hide at Neumanns Flash in the first clip is......me!!
I did a circular route from the car park at Witton Brook over Marbury Lane to Neumanns Flash. I then walked through Dairyhouse Meadows to the Trent and Mersey Canal before visiting the hide at
Haydn's Pool before rejoining Marbury Lane for a short stroll back to my car.
