The last day of July............................................ keeping up with a caterpillar

I had another lovely walk around my local nature reserve today and it took me about five hours.
It wasn't as sunny as yesterday but I should have worn a cap as I now have a very sore sunburnt head.

 I have added a few images of my day.
Gatekeeper (Pyronia tithonus)
Speckled Wood (Pararge aegeria)

I have seen lots of images recently of Cinnabar Moth Caterpillars.
I have also shared a few of my own.
I saw this little fellow crossing a path today... and boy could he move.

No birds I hear you cry!.... well no I didn't capture one decent image on the whole walk.
It's August in the morning....... where does the time go?

isn't that the truth? july was spent largely indoors here in A/C. seems like such a shame to spend that many daytime hours inside...

sorry about the sunburn! but thanks for taking us along on your walk!

Even if not sunny, I always have my noggin covered. Those overcast days will fool you. I like the caterpillar crawl.

Hi Andrew...Lovely photos on this post I think especially like the berries...but they do mean that we are heading into the later month of summer!!
Well now if that burn turns in a tanned head it will look like you have more hair : }}
PS like you header!!

Beautiful photos Andrew, and with August, there should be a lot more birds.
