Chester.....................in search of Roman soldiers

The Roman Amphitheatre in Chester was the largest in Britain
I had a lovely day viisiting the beautiful city of Chester.
Chester was the the Roman Empires fortress Castra Deva (the military camp by the River Dee)

The Rows at Chester Cross
The Roman army arrived in Chester sometime between AD 71 and and 79 and began to build a great fortress on a headland overlooking the River Dee. Their military surveyors carefully laid out a grid of streets centered on a spot that is now which is now Chester Cross. The fortress was connected by roads to all parts of The Roman province Britannia. For more than three centuries Chester was one of the most important military bases in the Roman Empire.
Chester Zoo is a great place to visit and this statue is of one of it's breeding successes
Chester's famous clock
Tourist Bus
At last I have seen a Roman
The Town Hall
Suspension bridge over the River Dee
Band Stand by the River Dee
River Boat............Mark Twain?
Street entertainment......
......was very entertaining
The Cathedral is a beautiful building.
I really did find a Roman Soldier
