Bark worse than it's .................................Lichen?

I have cropped the Treecreeper images to highlight both the Bark and Lichen of the Silver Birch (Betula pendula) the beautiful trees these lovely little birds were feeding on.........

Amazing how the cycle of life goes huh...the lichen feeds of bark and life within then both for the Creeper to feed on ...
