It's been a lovely warm sunny day with temperatures reaching 19c.
Unfortunately I was at work this morning... returning home I went into the garden to have a tidy up and top up the feeders... it was warm enough to leave my french doors open.... when I went back inside this little fella was crawling around the floor.
A Seven-spot Ladybird (Coccinella 7-punctata) a common species but a new visitor to my home.
I grabbed the camera and captured these images.. heavily cropped.
Ladybirds are only 7-9mm in length.
It was scuttling around looking for a way out... so I opened the garden doors a bit wider.
You can see his wing case (elytra) opening just before it flew over to the door.
A quick look outside... then it was off.
Ladybird, ladybird fly away home,
Your house is on fire and your children are gone,
