This weekend it's been the RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch...
...they claim it's the worlds largest wildlife survey.
You spend one hour noting the number of birds and different species that visit your garden.
During my hour earlier to day I had 10 species visit my feeders.. the last one was a bit special.
Goldcrest (Regulus regulus)
The smallest British bird weighing around 6.5gm.
All the images were taken through my kitchen window... and it was raining.
It's only the second one I've seen in the garden in over 10 years
Very tiny! Love the yellow!
ReplyDeleteLovely birds, with that black line on the face giving them a bit of a sour appearance!
ReplyDeletesweet little fellow:)
ReplyDeleteLovely Goldcrest.
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious bird and to think you have only seen two in ten years. I am so glad you did not miss this one. It is so sweet with that little yellow tuft on top of its head. I love the series.
ReplyDeleteCute bird, it looks very similar to our Golden-crowned Kinglet. Great photos. Happy February, enjoy your new week!
ReplyDeleteExcellent timing. Maybe it was going from garden to garden to see how many ticks it could achieve in one hour.
ReplyDeleteso adorable. very much like our golden-crowned kinglet.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute one..and so aptly named!! Love it surrounded by the evergreen.
ReplyDeleteOh and the white squirrel post..absolutely fabulous.
Amazing picture of a cute little bird. I love the wintery touch to the bush.
ReplyDeleteIf that bird would show up anywhere during the count it would be in your garden of course!!!
ReplyDeleteGood job you were looking out of the kitchen window at the right time.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little bird!
