During my visit to Tatton Park yesterday I was heading around the lake to where I could hear a stag.
Just a few yards from the waters edge I spotted this object...
...my first thought was it was an abandoned childs toy.
Then I heard a voice calling... "Have you seen a model plane?"
"It's right at my feet" I replied.
"Don't pick it up by it's tail" called the elderly gentleman as he headed towards me.
We had a good old chat about his hobby.
This model was a 1950's French design he built himself during the 1990's... powered by twisting the rubber band inside... it could fly quite a distance.

His name address and phone number were all written on the wings.
I got the impression he was always losing it.
I love these things I would love to have a little one! Model aircraft fascinate me. Not static airfix ones...ones that fly!
ReplyDeleteThat's great Andrew.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny. We had a friend once who flew model planes -- those people take their hobby very seriously! (I mean, so do bird watchers, but I understand that obsession ;>)))
ReplyDeleteI bet you thought for a moment you had a new bird to add to your life list.
ReplyDeleteWell that's a different kind of bird species Andrew! Have a lovely weekend
ReplyDeleteYou never know what will turn up on a photo safari.
