If you can get Safflower seed over there, they do not care for it as much, maybe try some of that. I try to get seed that is both corn and sunflower free, as those are the Squirrels go to foods~
Hah! You're not even on the same continent and have the same problem as I do. By the way, how did they get to the UK? We don't even know how they got to the western US. Can you get safflower seed and pepper suet? The Eastern Grays don't like either one. Black sunflower is a squirrel magnet.
Haha - these squirrels know where they get the goodies ;-) We also have a couple in the adjacent forest, and although they have an own feeding ground, they plunder the birds' one, too.
I posted some photos on my blog, in case you are interested and find some time, I would be pleased if you have look: http://minkamo.blogspot.de/2015/02/gartenbesucher-garden-visitors.html
until you've fed 150-250 whistling ducks all winter long, i'm not gonna listen to your feed bill complaints. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat capture, at great expense! ;-)
ReplyDeleteBack in DC, my husband tried all sort of contraptions to keep the tree rats out of the feeding trough for the birds, alas, unsuccessfully.
Well, I think they are beautiful. But, I would love to see red ones!
ReplyDeleteYou will haveto buy the feeders that let the birds feed but stop the Squirrels!
