Action camera on the feeders............................................................ first attempt

I bought this little Action Camera on Amazon... it's a Qumox SJ4000.

A GoPro lookalike...

...it came with loads of accessories including this waterproof case... all for just £69.

The bracket is for mounting the camera on bike handlebars... and of course bird feeding stations.

I captured this little clip of a Starling within minutes of setting it up.
It's played at half speed.
The plastic lid on the feeder is usually lower to keep the bigger birds out...
...a bit of tweaking and hopefully I will get some nice close up videos.

  3. What a good idea. It will be interesting to see what you capture next The close up of the starling was great, but perhaps smaller birds wouldn't swing the basket as much.

  5. That is a excellent idea Andrew.

How much did it cost to make it worth it?

Maybe can get the bear in action when he takes the neighbors bird feeders but maybe not. He would wreck the camera. The bear.

  15. Wow what fun ... and you almost hypnotized me with your video. With the swinging feeder all I needed was a low voice saying "you are geetting sleepy" and I would have been gone. ... Love your experiment and am looking forward to seeing how the videos come out.

  17. So You have your own bird cam! I'm asking over at my blog what people think of them (the professional ones like on the eagle nest here). I have mixed feelings and would love to know what birders think of them.
