It's taken me ages to edit this down to a watchable couple of minutes.
Noise from the airport and dogs barking... it's driven me mad.
The opening shot shows the deer park at Tatton... it's over a 1000 acres and dates back to 1290.
Red Deer Stags wallow in the mud... get grass on their antlers to make themselves look bigger and roar and bellow to see whose the loudest to impress the ladies.
If all goes to plan this weekend may bring some real aggression between the big males.

That was an incredible video! I enjoyed it very much! I am guessing here but I think your deer are more closely related to an ancient European breed than our American deer. Our elk are ENORMOUS and not the size of a deer stag. Both can be very impressive, but I the size of the elk makes your jaw drop. I love these red deer, though. They are really gorgeous animals! I hope you can go back and get some more film and pictures...I am really enjoying the posts!
I've never seen (or heard) anything like that. The stag with the grass and branches in his antlers was really something to see.. absolutely loved the video.. including the end, but I think she was just playing hard to get. I bet she'll be back :)

We once lived very near a big forest and we could hear them in early autumn but never got the chance to really watch them so close! Thanks for taking the effort!
