Grange over Sands duck pond........................................................... Wood Duck

Our holiday apartment was in the Cumbrian village of Grange over Sands.

Just a few hundred yards from our accommodation were the Ornamental Gardens and duck pond.

The gardens are home to an array of ducks and geese from all over the world... like this Wood Duck.
I have loads of images to sort through... holiday pics mainly but hopefully a few more to share.

We took some video clips on my pocket camera one morning of us feeding the birds on the pond...
...it was so much fun being mobbed by all the geese and gulls I will share it as soon as it's edited.
This week we hope to see the start of the Red Deer rut at Tatton Park... enjoy your week.

The Wood ducks have most striking markings and certainly look healthy.
I googled 'Grange over Sands' it looks such a pretty village on the coast.
Lovely to give your family a taste of the seaside too.
We live on the coast in New Zealand and our daughter lives inland in France - the one thing she misses is the sea!

Wood Ducks are at the top of my list of favorites ... they are truly beautiful and very shy. We get pairs on our lake in the Spring then the males seem to disappear but the females and their many babies are around for quite awhile. These are gorgeous pictures, Andrew ... you really want to see the Red Deer Rut ... doesn't it get a little rough? :)
