Drone Fly............................................................................. Anderton Nature Park

A Drone Fly (aka Hoverfly) feeding on Ragwort.

It's fun to just sit on the grass and watch all the small stuff going about their business.

Amazing photo. What camera do you use? Superb detail.

I love watching the wildlife whenever I'm outdoors. Even lying in the garden watching the ants or spiders on the fence etc.

Cracking image Andrew. I think it's one of the Eristalis group of Hoverflies, (poss. E. pertinax) need to see the colour of the front legs to get a better idea of which one though...[;o)

I agree. A couple of times I have followed a lone ant going about his business in the desert. It was fascinating the distance they cover and still make their way back to the colony, sometimes carrying a prize find.

I've seen them in the garden but would never attempt a photo. They are far too small for me. A fine picture Andrew.
