Just a couple of little brown jobs today................ plus a new roof on the shed

The felt on my shed roof has needed replacing for ages... it's a job had I kept putting off.

Well Mandy's Dad has just spent the last two days (even in the rain) doing it for me.
I just need to give it a lick of paint and it will look like new.

The whole roof was rotten and the door was hanging off it's hinges...
...he ended up with a bigger task than he expected... but has done a wonderful job.

The fence is next on the list... just don't tell the birds.

I have had Blue, Great and Coal Tit's on the feeders plus the odd Gold and Greenfinch but it's mainly been the little brown birds that have kept me entertained... House Sparrows and Dunnocks.

The sparrows have been on the feeders in numbers which is fine with the Dunnocks who as mainly ground feeders have had lot's of dropped seeds to feed on.
Plus a taste of this little stash we put out for the Wood Mouse.

There have been some new visitors this week... just scroll down to see the last couple of posts.

HI Andrew Well the shed looks great now and I love all the feeders you have. Your birds are really spoiled and they will miss the hole in the fence if you get that mended!

It looks great and look at all of your feeding stations. I need to clean mine up and begin again...we had feral cats killing the birds and only one remains, so I can hopefully begin feeding again soon!

your shed looks in great shape with the new felt on top now Drew - not familiar with this as a roofing material. Your garden birds are going to be put out for a while when the hole in the fence is blocked; enjoyed your pics again.

Has there ever been a DIY job that did not turn out to be "bigger than he thought!"

Nice collection of garden birds - you can always rely on the LBJs.

PS: sorry for slow reply - I have been out of phone / Internet range for most of the week - it was strangely pleasant!

Excellent shots of the birds! That was very nice of him to handle the roof job for you! It's always a relief to have something like that finished.

Nice shots of the little brown jobs! Your garden is lovely. The birds will miss having their own entrance though.

The shed looks wonderful and so does your garden...but oh gosh, couldn't you build a new fence with one hole in it?

Just about right you took care of that. From cottages to entire houses, a good roofing keeps your structures in proper shape and functioning well. Maybe you can branch the shed off from the very structure of your home, same way they do in other compounds, so it would be done in one fell swoop.

I don’t know how the old roof looked like, but since you've mentioned that you had it for a long time, I think it just really deserves a replacement. Anyhow, it’s great that you still integrated the style of the new roof with the overall structure of the house. The roof matched well with the siding and even with the entire surrounding.
