House Sparrows never fail to amuse me............................................................

The birds I see the most in my garden at the moment are the House Sparrows... up to a dozen at a time.

Comical little birds to watch on the feeders...

...and just as happy picking up scraps on the ground.

Sneaking off into the bushes so they don't have to share.

They are almost as acrobatic as the Blue Tit's... curling their tails up to balance as they feed.

I just had to share this scruffy juvenile Goldfinch from this morning...
...he will soon have his red and black mask... beautiful garden visitors.

The Goldfinch is I suspect a baby. It is a bit scruffy though.

lovely photos again Drew and is the Goldfinch a spin-off from the sparrow? They are much alike, again, like a canary too....

Great clarity and detail! These are great photos! We usually get quite a few House Sparrows at the feeders.

I see a lot of sparrows and they are just as cute as can be! Your shots are great and I sure hope that the little goldfinch is looking a lot better by now!

I like the little guys. I sometimes have as many as 20-30 in my yard at a time.

In regards to your squirrel problems, just baffle your feeder poles.

Sadly a declining species, although they appear to be doing well in a number of places at the moment. It's always fun to watch these cheeky little characters and the antics that they get up to around the feeders....[;o)

Funny how I got used to ignoring House Sparrows until I moved to the mountains of New Mexico, where they are rarely seen. Had only one at our feeder the entire eleven years we lived there. Now, near the Florida Everglades they are also quite scarce, though we can find them in shopping center parking lots.

The goldfinch does look a tad scruffy, doesn't it?

House finches are indeed fun to watch. And forever hungry...or is that just my imagination? ;)
