Blakeney Harbour................................................. a great place to go crabbing

Still sharing a few images from my holiday in Norfolk last week.

This is the small harbour at Blakeney... our hotel is just past the one in the centre of this image.

It's a lovely quiet place... the harbour is now home to mainly pleasure boats.
All along the front parents were showing their kids how to catch crabs... there was hardly an empty spot to be had.

Far more fun than computer games any day... plenty of fresh air for a start.

For around £6 you could purchase a Crabbing Kit... a line, bait and a bucket for your catch.
The crabs in the harbour are far too small to eat... every one is returned to the water after the fun ends.

Memories are made of days like this... I remember doing the same as a youngster.

We didn't have special crab buckets in my day though.

Looks like this family were there for the day... no chance of muscling in here.

It was hard to tell who was having the most fun... the parents or the kids.
Please note: No crabs were harmed in the making of this post.

We go crabbing in Cornwall, but I also stick my hands under rock pool rocks and get some monsters. I've still got nip marks on my hands from this years visit. Did you have a go with Amanda? From Findlay

I'm glad none of the small crabs were harmed, so they might grow to bigger. Would they be edible when they're six inches across? Some vague memory tells me that's what the rule was when I was young and living on the west coast of British Columbia.
Beautiful photos of a fun but relaxing summer day!

It looks like a very popular activity! When I think of crabbing, I think of being on a boat in the middle of the ocean. This looks like fun!

It is so nice to spend time with the children, they go up so fast. My adult children have great memories of hikes and other outdoor activities. I hope they will make the same memories with their children.

We were crabbing last week too Andrew! And I posted about it today as well. But I can't say the last sentence in your post was true for us. (Dungeness Crabs on the Pacific Northwest Coast are big and delicious.)
