It's been a horrible week... I am so pleased to back home watching the wildlife in my garden.
This little Greenfinch (in moult) looks as rough as I feel.
I have spent the past week in hospital... trying to get to the bottom of my knee problems.
Mandy has been brilliant this week but couldn't resist taking this as I returned to the ward after surgery.
I have had blood tests, x rays, ultra sound scans and then an operation to wash out my knee.
They tested me for rheumatoid arthritis but the results were negative.
The surgeon said my knee bones are "raw" so total knee replacement appears to be my only option.
I hated my time in the hospital... I so longed to sleep in my own bed.
The nurses were fantastic and I have no complaints at the care I received from everyone there...
... but at the end of the day there really is no place like home.

Hope you feel better soon!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Sorry there is not a quicker fix to your knees! I know what you mean about being in your own bed. take care.
You are an invalid, I feel sorry for you. It must have been a great day to get home.
oh, dear. so glad you are home again. i had noticed your absence and wondered. really sorry about the prognosis for your knee, though!
HI Andrew I am very sorry to hear you have been in hospital but glad you are out and back home again to be able to watch the birds in your backyard and to photograph them.
Sorry to hear of your ongoing knee problems Andrew, I hope you're feeling better soon. I'm sure that being back at home and doing a bit of garden birdwatching will go a long way to help speed up your recovery.
On a positive note my 85 year old mother-in-law had a knee replacement last year (she also has two hip replacements, bionic granny we call her!) and she now goes out with her local walking group, goes dancing with her local dance group and has just started going to keep fit sessions!
So there's hope for you yet...lol!
All the best...[;o)
Andrew, just get them done. It is hell being curtailed by a bad leg or two.
I love the knew header. They do look silly with antlers full of bracken, twigs and grass.
Android Andrew has a nice ring to it.
Sorry to hear this and to SEE it also... you do look a tad under the weather. hope all is well soon
Hi Andrew, I totally agree with you, the hospital beds are terrible. I spent a week and a half in hospital (had total hip replacement on 22nd of Aug.) and had the worst back pain, they had to give me a special rub for my back which really helped. Hope you get better soon.
What a horrible week, but hopefully this is the start of putting things right. Hope you are feeling better very soon xx
P.S. Mandy's photography is really coming on ;)
Hope you get them sorted soon and are soon back to your usual self!
I KNOW you are happy to be home even if you are still in pain. Sounds like you have earned your time watching and photographing the wildlife outside your windows. Love the pictures...even the one of you. Boy, do we make fashion statements when photographed in those gowns. Happy Homecoming. genie
Andrew, you been in hospital ... hopefully you will be finally better ... But as I read knee replacement. Surely then you are going run like a hare :-) Home is home ... :-)
wow. sounds like you have been dealing with a lot ... get better real soon. i've been vacationing - getting back to commenting & bloggin' again ...
all the best to you. ( :
I was wondering what had happened to you, wishing you a speedy recovery.
I'm happy you're back home again. It's big surgery, but hopefully life will get better and easier after that. Mom's had both hips and one knee done. Take care!
So sorry to hear about your tragedy. I hope you will fell better soon..
such your birds looking cute...
Oh my goodness- bless your heart! I hope you are up and back outdoors soon, but rest that knee good! I take glucosamine every day since my knee surgery- it does help.
Sending lots of healing energy hugs ~ glad you are home and your bird photo is fantastic! ~ carol ^_^
Good to have a garden with wildlife to watch when you feel bad...
Hospital - not fun. I'm glad you're back home and able to enjoy watching your birds again!
Lovely birds. I hope you have recovered well.

Speedy recovery Andrew, I was just talking to a friend about you and she was describing her knee surgery. You have my sympathies! Sweet bird also.
Oh Andrew I'm so sorry you've been ill...get better soon (so you can have that surgery I guess you have to get well before you can have it probably). Bummer. Glad you're home. Birding will definitely help pass the time as you recover.
What a bummer of a week. Get someone to put up some more bird feeders in the garden and focus on the calming world of nature.
Not the best way to spend a week - but if it gets the knee sorted it may have been a decent investment.

Sorry about your knee problem and the time you spent in hospital. Glad you're home now. Take care.
after time in the hospital, i'd be happy to be home and looking at my garden, too. take care of that knee and enjoy the birds!
You poor dear. Knees are complex joints and not so easy to fix. Sorry I have not been around, we had to postpone my husband's funeral for over two weeks for the one day when both our children crossed on our continent.
I do hope your knee mends very soon.
So sorry you have been in the hospital!! Glad you are home!
I hate to hear that about your knee! I'm sure you'll make the right decision. I detest being in the hospital or even going to the doctor's office. Glad you're back home!
