A boat trip to see the seals........................................... Blakeney Point Norfolk

One of the highlights of my week away in Norfolk was visiting the seal colony at Blakeney Point.
We have Grey and Common seals around our coast in the UK and both species can be seen here.

                                    We had to wait until 4pm for the tide to come in before we could set sail.

Our boat is the one on the right... they each hold up to fifty passengers.

It always amazes me how quickly the tide comes in... from the image above to this in less than half an hour.

We were the first to leave the harbour at Morston...but were soon overtaken.
I preferred our more leisurely pace.

It wasn't long before we had reached the end of Blakeney Point and the seal colony.

The boats can get right up to the shoreline...

... passing up and down a few times giving us some wonderful views.

 The seals were just as curious of us as we were of them... or so it seemed.

Some swimming alongside for a closer look...

...while others just turned the other cheek.

This was the view from the rear of our craft... seal trips are very popular.

    How cool and fun. Here on the California Central Coast, there is a place where the seals and sea lions all come ashore and sun themselves. My late husband and I went up there for a weekend many years ago.

    little wonder the seal trips are popular and it is quite amazing about the rush of tide. The seals, I like the white/dappled ones especially, look quite appealing and angelic almost. Though I'm sure they're not at times; great photos!

    They're so darn cute. Guess it's the eyes. We see a few every day here on the Oregon Coast...we've been out crabbing in our little boat..the seals come over to see if there's anything for them to eat.
