A new bird comes through the hole in my fence..............................................

I have a hole in my fence that the Robin and a few other small birds have been using to enter my garden.
It's the hole in my blog header.

Well today even the male Blackbird had a go...

...but he only just fitted through.
I have added pics of the Robin and Dunnock to give a sense of scale.

 Robin

Dunnock

The fence has deteriorated quite a bit during the winter months and may well have to be replaced soon.
The hole will be sorely missed... and not just by the birds.

Great pictures of these birds, I love waking up in the morning hearing the blackbird chirping away, or in the evening.

That's the kind of hole I would keep as long as I could :) Great photos Andrew.

Lovely shots! You have to make a hole in your new fence too.

As popular as it is, I'd make a custom hole in the new fence just for the birds! Seriously.

Brilliant images from the hole in the fence, which won't be there very soon.

if that blackbird gains just an oz he will have to find another hole to fit through, OR you will have to call the fire dept to rescue him

You'll just have to cut a hole in the new fence Andrew.

A new visitor through the hole! He looks very pleased with himself :) Oh yes, you MUST have a custom hole made in the new fence!!

I guess it has just been a little enchanting 'tunnel' for the birds to take a safe glimpse before stepping through; you will miss it but we know they'll still come visiting for all the goodies you leave for them

Charming captures Andrew - well spotted! (hope the new fence has a similarly accommodating entrance!)

Great shots. You could always put a hole in the new fence. :-)

I think you owe it to your birds to put a hole in your new fence ;>)

Drew, you'll have to put the blackbird on a diet before he gets stuck in the hole.

Your robin is so much more colorful than those around here.
