Tatton Park
While I was at Tatton Park watching the deer I had a quick visit to the bird hide located in the small wood overlooking Melchett Mere (the far right in this image).
Canada Goose.
Canada Goose.
Nuthatch.
It's a lovely little indoor hide with seating and windows that open plus the walls are covered with illustrated information about the birds you may see... fantastic for families.
I was only there for a few minutes but saw Great Spotted Woodpecker, Nuthatches and Coal, Great and Blue Tits.... while on the water were Pochard, Mallards, Coot, Canada Geese and Mute Swans.
They had all sorts of contraptions on and around the feeders to try and keep the squirrels at bay and this big caged one appeared to be doing the trick.. but you have to admit they don't produce great shots of the feeding birds.

The birds are great, but that opening scene is amazing, just breath taking beauty there~
Great shots Andrew..... lovely landscape to.
Wish you a nice weekend, Joop
'tis true. pretty shots, andrew.
great shots. what a beautiful park. so lovely. (:
I wish we had places like that here, but I've never heard of any place with permanent hides. If the birds could feed from outside the cage, it wouldn't be too bad, but it does get in the way of good shots once they're inside. You saw a nice variety!
Not very photogenic, those cages, Andrew! I just hope that I don't have to resort to buying any!! Great first shot...[;o)
What lovely bird shots.
Beautiful shots!
I'm surprised the squirrels haven't worked those feeders out.
Good to see you out and about.
Andrew, just found your site and am enjoying reviewing your posts. Very nice images!

WONDERFUL!!!
Have a lovely weekend,
Gabi
Catch the birds before they go onto the feeders lol
Lovely captures all--especially the little nuthatch. We have two that come to our feeder and deck for a drink of water.
Nicely done!
I would say this is a little bit of heaven here on earth.Beautiful. genie
Truly, I agree it DOES take away the beauty of photography...but yet, I see some great images all in all. No matter, you shared some awesome photos of nature at its finest Andrew.
The lake and the scenery in the backdrop is superb also.
...sorry, I'm in my personal blog admin right now so ---that's me, above, "Anni" from I'd Rather B Birdin.
I used to have a cage feeder like that but ended up taking it apart because it was impossible to clean- couldn't get the gunk that accumulated on the bottom out. Of course I never got around putting it back together. Beautiful landscape photo! Love those clouds, the water, the trees along the horizon...
You just can't win with squirrels can you. Sounds like a great place to visit.
That first photo is Amazing. The low clouds, the water and the Fall colors in the tress make a beautiful scene. The goose photo is great too, they are such pretty birds. The Nuthatch shots are great too. They have to work a bit to get the seeds from those feeders.
Happy Sunday!
Lovely landscape shot! It is a shame you have to protect your bird food from the squirrels. Or you must give in and just feed the squirrels too. Love the cute nuthatch! Happy Birding!
What a beautiful light on the top shot. Gorgeous!
