I haven't been to my favourite local place to watch birds for a few weeks now.
Here are a few flight shots of Black-tailed Godwits taken a few years ago with my old Nikon D60.
They were feeding along the shoreline in good numbers when they suddenly took off...
...lovely birds to watch flying around together.
They swirled around for a couple of minutes before landing to carry on feeding... probing around in the shallows with those wonderful long beaks.
Another fond memory of Haydn's Pool was seeing a fox appear on the far shore one Sunday afternoon.
He was seen off by a Lapwing who was guarding her chick... just a few yards to the right of this image.
The fox hadn't seen the chick and soon the dive bombing bird made him turn and run.
I have posted these images before but it was quite a while ago so you may not have seen them.
I can't wait to be up and about so I can get back to watching nature other than in my back garden.
amazing birds in flight shot and the fox is incredible to me, i have only seen 2 in my life and never close enough for a photo
ReplyDeleteNice. That is one beautiful fox. Haven't seen them around here of late. Neighbors think we have coyotes but I haven't seen them either.

ReplyDeletewe have red foxes like that except the ones here have bushier tails - but they are so pretty and I hear them howling at night- they almost sound human - its kind of scary but they don't hurt anyone - I see them running by the lake sometimes or trotting down the side of the road. :)

ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful post -- as far as I'm concerned you could post it monthly (I don't think I saw it before, but again I wouldn't mind seeing it over and over). The flight shots -- they're just kind of skimming the water -- just fantastic. And I cannot believe the fox and how you got that whole series with the lapwing...just amazing.
