Nothing goes to waste in my garden............................. meet the Woodpigeon

Woodpigeon.
I call them my garden "hoovers" the birds that clean up all the dropped seeds etc below the feeders.

I often scatter a few seeds on the path for the ground feeders... this is a big treat for the pigeons.

It never takes them long to realize there's easy pickings on the go.

I have even had them hopping inside my house looking for more.

"It's a nice little garden you have here"

 "Thanks for your hospitality"

Woodpigeons are clumsy birds that always bring a smile to my face whenever they visit my garden.

  3. Love those white eyes! Kinda different from what I'm used to seeing. At least nothing gets wasted and they get to eat!

  8. I have never, ever seen one except with what you've shared. Now I have to go check it's habitat map and see where they're found. Oh, how I wish they were here in my neck of the woods....beautiful. I love the color and its markings.

  13. Wow! Such clarity in these photos of the dove, it's almost as if it will jump out of the computer.

  14. Love the wood pigeons. We have a Mr & Mrs who sit on our fence together all day long, sporadically flying down to peck away on the lawn before returning to their posts throughout the day. Lovely photos.

  17. That's a beautiful pigeon! You are really nice to feed them. Most people around here seem tothink they are pests. I don't mind them in the least.

  22. They are our hoovers as well and nest in the garden, I'm pleased to say. And, as you commented, their antics are so funny. Especially when young birds try to balance on the washing line!
