I heard a bit of a commotion in the garden last night... Magpies were on the search for a meal.
It started off on the roof tops
They then split up.
One landed on my fence... and was having a good look around.

I have always struggled to get close to Magpies.
All of these images were taken through my windows.
they're so beautiful w/ their sharp black and white. i bet they're quite entertaining (and raucous). :)
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Andrew!! Boom & Gary OF THE Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteHopefully no bird droppings. Richard
ReplyDeleteThey are quite beautiful. Great shots, even through the windows!
ReplyDeleteNice shots Andrew.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. Your magpies are rather different from the ones out here in Australia but they sound equally noisy and curious.
ReplyDeleteFantastic captures.. and through a window! Beautiful birds, which we don't have here.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and interesting birds. Your window views are quite sharp.
ReplyDeleteThey are cool looking birds. Great shots, Andrew!
ReplyDelete..lovely magpies Andrew, I can hear them warbling here too this morning; distant cousins!
ReplyDeleteLove the magpies! They're handsome looking birds!
ReplyDeleteMagpies are one of my favorites just because of the black and white.

ReplyDeletelike the contrast white and black!
Great pictures you show of the damage. Damages "runs" also on our roof and looking for food. Wishing you a good Wednesday. Hanne Bente / hbt.finus.dk
ReplyDeleteBrilliant images of the Magpie.
ReplyDeleteHi there - nice pictures. We have black and white birds here called Magpies - but they are a large butcher bird, rather than a crow.
ReplyDeleteNice to see the "original" magpie again.

they are beautiful, and now I know I have never seen one before. had no idea they are black and white. i love their painted color. like the spread wings in the first pic.
ReplyDeleteThey are such striking birds in their black and whit plumage!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images of Andrew.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! You must have very clean windows!
ReplyDeleteWell, this tie you got some good shots of them . I always find B&W birds hard to capture well and with European Magpies, it is even harder with those iridescent feathers on their backs. Well done!
ReplyDeleteWOW! What a fine job you did shooting through the window. I do a good bit of that, too. I have never seen a magpie. The third shot looks like it is time for a little rest. genie
ReplyDeleteMagpies must be one of my favorite birds when visiting my family in Germany. I love watching their antics. Nice shots, Drew!
