The Robin taking advantage of my gardening yesterday wasn't the only creature I enjoyed watching.
This snail was showing a real turn of speed.
On your Marks!
Get Set!
Go!
The sprint is on...
...it's the length of a brick.
almost there...
crossing the finish line...
... which was a bit of a hurdle.
No problem.
I now have sore knees from crawling on the patio trying to get close to this speedy little chap.

this was great! the snail race had me laughing (thanks to your commentary) but your ending line did too! :)
ReplyDeleteA nice commentary, the snail doing a mile, great photos.
ReplyDeleteAndrew, this is beautiful! Great photos and great comments!
ReplyDeleteClever shots--you must have been very, very patient to get them!
ReplyDeleteThat's what you call going flat out .... It put a smile on my face ... Very cute.
ReplyDeleteGreat series of shots, Andrew. I enjoyed the snail olympics :-)

ReplyDelete❤♡ Impressionante como ele está camuflado!!!
Essa série ficou maravilhosa... imagino o tempo e a paciência que você teve para esperar ele movimentar.
Boa semana!

LOL! Now that was funny! No doubt you had the shutter speed set as high as it would go. ;-)
ReplyDeleteBut what was the goal? Or was it just the thrill of the race? :-)
ReplyDeletegreat photos Drew, you'd wonder how they can slither over tough territory like that at all. I don't have them in my garden; some small slugs now and again but the blue-tongues must devour them all
ReplyDeleteI'm tired from watching! I hope you're alright after that exciting garden event!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great series!
ReplyDeleteThese are really nice. You've got some cool snails in your area. I'd love to see these guys around my garden:)
ReplyDeleteLol, I used to love doing this with my two pet snails when I was a child!
ReplyDeleteSweet story - I love it! And your close-ups!!!
ReplyDeleteBut I think it looks like a winner !
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog and enjoyed going through it...Lovely captures and I enjoyed and smiled throuh each shot. Thanks for sharing!

this is amazing, i LOVE IT, really I do. I also love the picture in my mind of your crawling alone snapping away. watch out you are turning into a MadSnapper.
ReplyDeleteFantastic set of photos! I've not been able to show any of our native snails on my blog so far, they seem to be so scarce, and the invasive Giant African Snails are a completely different story!
ReplyDeleteAndrew this is a wonderful series, you must have been using high speed shots.
ReplyDeleteWhat a very cool sequence! Snails are such amazing animals.
ReplyDeleteLooks like he's in great training but if you want to get into serious snail-racing, you will have to invest in a pair of tilers' knee pads.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun ... and what an energetic little snail. He must have a destination in mind. Hope your knees recover for another day of racing ...

I had to come back to see this series Andrew and I adore it. How clever and also the images are such wonderful ones~
ReplyDeleteFunny photos and commentaries :)
ReplyDeleteI liked it :)
LoL... I don't know what's funnier, the snail race or the image I have in my head of you crawling on your knees following it! ;)
ReplyDeleteFabulous! YOU are the winner for these photos! Nice job!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, and commentary!
