I had put out a fresh apple on the hanging feeder in my garden last night.
To help the birds get at the flesh I slice off some of the peel... leaving it on the floor for the ground feeders.
I wasn't too surprised to see this little fella helping himself as I was getting ready for work this morning.
This was going to be the only image I was sharing today but I had a late meal tonight and as it's still mild I sat out in the garden to eat it.
I was delighted to be joined by my garden Wood Mouse who was just a few feet away looking for scraps below the bird feeders.
I haven't seen it for a couple of weeks... it's a mouse that won't invade my home and I really enjoy watching it scurrying around near the shed.
It was getting quite dark and I had to use the built in flash to capture these images.
I expected it to disappear after the first flash but it didn't seem to bother him... and I had crept quite close.
I hope to capture more images in better light over the next couple of evenings.

Great photos Andrew. Not seen a mouse for ages.
really cute varmints! :)
I rarely get to see our little mouse friends. Yours is adorable and I would enjoy him visiting my back garden. Always love those squirrels.
We seldom see mice on blogs so this was wonderful to see. Mice are nice. Well done Andrew.
Isn't it just like a squirrel to help himself! Maybe you can hand feed the little wood mouse, I bet he would let you if you had the right food!
Ha! I knew from your title it was going to be a squirrel! Great shots of the mouse! Not exactly a critter that's easy to photograph.
Cool capture of the mouse. Love the squirrels as well:)

Splendid little mouse!

i love the sweet little mouse, he was very brave to let that flash not scare him. good to know they will not come in the house.
I wouldn't mind a mouse that would actually stay outside in the garden. He's cute.
The mouse is SO cute!
All of them are so cute:)
That little mouse is so cute. I've saved many a desert mouse from the jaws of death (my kitties). That squirrel, cute!!!!! Great photos Andrew!
I guess "timid as a mouse" does not apply to this little guy!
Nice pic of the squirrel. Of course, they don't care if you left the fruit for the birds. I'm sure it makes it taste all the better for having NOT been meant for them. Good job with the mouse, too. He's a cutey as long as he stays out of the house.
how cute! :)
