Easter Monday and a public holiday... I had plans.
My plans usually include carrying my camera and/or camcorder... water isn't good for electrical equipment.
It has rained none stop all day... not heavily just that light constant drizzle that soaks everything.
My little garden birds still have to feed so I spent most of this morning in my comfiest place to bird watch.
My house!
They are always lovely to see..
My images were all taken through my double glazed windows...

... which also need a good clean.
I was asked once why they were called Blue Tits when from the front they are quite yellow...
...well look at that beautiful crown.

We have had a dry winter so my garden isn't complaining about the weather.
Not too sure about the bird but I think the peanuts and raindrops are in focus.

At least my climbing rose was getting watered.
Doh!..... I forgot my umbrella.
What do I do when my plans go wrong... I treat myself.
My CD player jammed up about a year ago... I listen to the radio through my television so never replaced it.
I went shopping and treated myself to a new CD player... it also has an iPod dock.
It's wall mountable and has a remote control and takes up little space... ideal for my home.

That's a very nice treat Andrew :-) Music is the essence of life. I like your photos of the little blue tit, they're cute if you ask me. It looks pretty wet over there [eek].
ReplyDeleteHave a nice evening!
Eva
Music is so important, that's a lovely Easter gift. What you need is waterproof image equipment!
ReplyDeleteAs for the blue tit(s, they are so pretty. I hardly ever seen any anymore though.
Steady rain here... :-)
well, glad you can use the rain. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great Easter gift.
Wish the rain would go away here too.
Hi Andrew,
ReplyDeleteYes, plans have been scuppered all over the country today! We still need it to rain though to get the water table back up, I have heard that they reckon we need 3 months of it! No thank you.

ReplyDeleteAlways nice to treat yourself.
ReplyDeleteSorry you were unable to go outside and play, but nature needs a treat once in a while too, even if it's only rain!
ReplyDeleteLove the Mourning Dove, it looks so peaceful, even in the rain.
A Blue Tit is called because.........
ReplyDeleteYou didn't have to give yourself a treat, when you've got a computer, get iTunes, it is you what need.
Awesome captures, have a great week:)
ReplyDeleteA great treat indeed, Andrew, I can't get along without my music!! And I do love the Blue Tit! Beautiful bird and such wonderful shots for the day! Hope you have great week! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
Beautiful shots that capture the moments -- the rain, the bird, the leaves. Great!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for you that the rain spoiled your plans but it was really rather lucky for us! The photos of the little birds at the feed are all great. The Blue Tit is especially beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI never saw a blue tit before. Spectacular captures!
ReplyDeleteNie zawsze trzeba robiÄ "polowania"na ptaki w plenerze, bo przez szybÄ okiennÄ też można zrobiÄ Åwietne zdjÄcia. UdowodniÅeÅ to. Pozdrawiam.
ReplyDeleteDo not always have to do "hunting" for birds in the open air, because the window pane can also do some great shots. Have proven this. Yours.
Your through the window pictures look very good. I would not have known had you not said anything. I like that last foto the best. he seems throughly miffed at the weather. Yes, rainy days can be expensive especially with online shopping. What else is one to do?
ReplyDeleteI know the rain must have been disappointing on your day off, but the light is just perfect in your photos. And your roses look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWe all need to treat ourselves to a nice gift -- I hope you enjoy yours, Andrew. :)
These images are enchanted! I love the blue tit!
ReplyDeleteNice shots of the blue tit. I've only seen tufteds over here. Cute shot of the dove (I thought everyone had umbrellas over there).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bird! and you are right - our chickadees look a lot like the Blue Tit.
ReplyDeleteAndrew, your Blue Tits are pretty birds. Great photos. I hope you had a Happy Easter and what a great gift. Enjoy your music.
ReplyDeleteyou got some lovely photos even though through d/glazed windows, I'm surprised they were so good. Love the blue-tit, lucky birds when people care for them like you do with feed-stations. Do many neighbours seem to follow suit? Or is it 'just' bird-lovers who think to do this especially in the cold climates where they must be searching for food sources more. Nice pickup with the new music machine Drew; enjoy!
ReplyDeleteYour weather seems to be the same as here in Mid Wales I too have to take my photos through the window.
ReplyDeleteAnd as someone already said if you have a computer you have no need for a cd player ,
I wish I could take photos as good as that on a wet day through the window, they are lovely Andrew! The poor old Wood Pigeon does look fed up. We have hardly had any rain for twelve months here so although it was an inconvenience it was much needed.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the CD player, it just isn't the same on the computer. Nice set up you bought...hmm, I need to buy a new one too ;-)
Your photos are wonderful...wet and glass or not! Nice gift you healed the burn of plans gone wrong with!
ReplyDeleteYou had a great Rain Day! excellent photos of the Blue Tit, and Congrats on your new purchases!!
ReplyDeleteHello Andrew..I wanted to answer your comment about wolves on my blog..Michelle
ReplyDeleteThis is a big controversy since wolves were reintroduced after being wiped out. I haven’t seen the BBC documentary although I do enjoy them when I can catch them so I don’t know what exactly was said. But some people are very unhappy including cattle ranchers and hunting is being allowed in certain areas. And on the other side are conservationalists saying the restoring a apex predator keeps things in balance..There are links at the end of the blog post if you want to explore more..but I think many, many wolves are going to be killed which I feel is sad, but we haven’t learned to live with nature and I think continue to fight against it. You might want to check our naturalist Cynthia’s blog as her passion is the coyote, another misunderstood animal…

We have had some rain here and will be getting some snow. Our warm March has the growing season a month ahead which is causing losses in fruit orchards and in my garden when there are frosts and freezes..
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, I am quite familiar with photographing birds through a window (click here to see what I'm talking about). More to the point--congratulations on the new stereo. That is an excellent rainy day activity! (Does this mean you'll now start to write music posts :)?)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots of the bird. It is having nice time on the feeder.
ReplyDeleteLove the bird shots, great even with the rain.
ReplyDeleteLove the rain drops on the leaves! And the dove or pigeon photo is wonderful! Congrats on the new stereo, Andrew! It looks like a nice piece of equipment.
ReplyDeleteFantastic shots!
ReplyDeletethese are terrific photos! what a handsome bird. the last photo is adorable---i'd like to bring him a raincoat.:p
ReplyDeleteHi there - what classic garden birds - I miss them! Shame about the rain, but it's a Bank Holiday tradition second only to sitting in traffic jams if my memory does not fail me!
ReplyDeleteCheers - Stewart M - Australia
The Tit's colours and patterns are beautiful! Funny pigeon! :-) Enjoy your new toy.
ReplyDeleteShame about the rain but we got some lovely bird photos and you got a new music centre so not so bad after all!
ReplyDeleteA very nice set of photos. I sometimes see Blue Tits through the window...
ReplyDeleteThe blue tit looks like such a sweet little bird.
ReplyDeleteDrew I love the last shot!! Very nice!!
ReplyDeleteNice shots, - perfect for WBW!
ReplyDeleteWindows make great blinds but don't have the best optics. Lovely bird images in spite of the window.
ReplyDeleteAh, what great shots and even from behind the window. He is a beauty.
ReplyDeleteNow you can listen to beautiful music there in your comfy bird blind! I think the images are just fine and I love that blue tit.
ReplyDeleteThat rain sounds exactly like the kind we have (had) in Oregon -- I think the climates are a lot the same.
Beautiful photos and ... great purchase.
ReplyDeleteAt least you got some really, really good rainy bird images!!!
ReplyDeleteNice treat Andrew. :-)
ReplyDeleteAt least your garden probably appreciated the nice soaking rain.
ReplyDeleteYou got some great shots of the Blue Tits while keeping nice and dry!
Aw, poor bird without an umbrella. I love that shot.
ReplyDeleteI was about to ask you if what the Blue Tit was eating was cranberries and I scrolled down further and found out it was peanuts. I learn something new everytime I check out Our World sites.
