Sandwich Terns................................................... Cemlyn Bay Anglesey

I shared a clip from the BBC series Earthflight the other day plus one of my images of a Sandwich Tern with a catch returning to the nesting site at Cemlyn Bay.
I watched the final episode last night.. if you get the chance to watch it I am sure you won't be disappointed.

I took hundreds of images of the Sandwich Terns during my visit... they are wonderful birds to see.

...and flying in so fast these images were as sharp as I could manage.
Record shots of a lovely day.

  4. wonderful; you would be sorry the series has finished Andrew. There is a new bird-show starting here sometime soon which I'm looking forward to. Your photographs are great, wonderful captures; not easy to get a bird in flight, and with it's lucky catch too! I figure it was a lucky catch for you on the day and that you could hardly wait to get home and edit and see what the result was.

  6. They are very streamlined aero-dynamic birds. I think you did well catching them inflight.

    Isn't Earthflight a fabulous series.
There is one more programme on Sunday showing the techniques used in it's production.

  8. Outstanding photos Andrew and thanks for the info on Earthflight. Hopefully it will make US TV one day, and if failing that maybe I can get a DVD eventually.
